Blueprint and Construction
The first is a formalised 3 stage Blueprint based process which enables a client to understand every aspect of the intended solution before they commit to a development stage. This is suitable for companies who have very specific goals and have already completed a formal business and process analysis of their operations and understand exactly what it is they require.Benefits of this approach:
- Assurance: All parties have a clear, screen by screen, function by function understanding of what the end product will operate like.
- Clear Direction: This understanding is tied back through the process design documents to the business plan itself.
- Clear Expectations: There are clear and transparent stages set out making it possible to control and manage the expectations of the business who are 1 and 2 steps removed from the actual implementation.
- Minimised Risks: Risks are managed and highlighted through high visibility from business requirements, through to how the business processes are designed and into how the software is designed to meet the needs identified.
Maintenance and Evolution
The second Evolution model draws from the Blueprint process but uses a prototyping and short feedback driven iterations in order to come to the understanding about how the software should operate and what its functions should be.This is suitable for start-up to medium businesses who have not had the time or budget to invest in a large formalisation and business analysis phase, but who understand that a well implemented software solution will make a dramatic difference to their operation.
